Abstract:
A transmitting apparatus (1) has one of its ends connected to a layer 2 switch (3) via a transmission path (2) and also has the other end connected to a relay transmission path (4). The transmission path (2) comprises a transmission path (2a) of operational system and a transmission path (2b) of backup system. If there occurs any trouble in the transmission path (2a) of operational system, the transmitting apparatus (1) compulsorily shuts down the transmission path (2a) of operational system in response to a link-down detection, stops a packet transmission, and drives a port of the layer 2 switch (3) into MAC flash. Thereafter, the transmitting apparatus (1) performs a path switching to use the transmission path (2b) of backup system for the operational system, and resumes the packet transmission via the transmission path (2b) used anew for the operational system. In this way, the layer 2 switch (3) MAC-learns and performs a port setting, thereby continuing the communication after the occurrence of the trouble.
