The objective of the present invention is to provide: a transparent film that has excellent abrasion resistance and excellent resistance to repeated folding; a transparent film that additionally has excellent pencil hardness and is suitable for a flexible display; a polarizing plate; and an image display device. A transparent film having, as the outermost layer thereof on one or both surfaces of a base material, at least one abrasion-resistant layer having an indentation hardness of 300 MPa or more and a thickness of 50 to 1,000 nm, wherein the transparent film has a folding endurance of 1,000 folds or more as measured by an MIT test machine in accordance with JIS P8115; a polarizing plate; and an image display device.
