Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to create detailed guidance information having efficient route retrieval. A travel assistance device according to the present invention comprises: an information acquisition unit that acquires road connection information that represents connection relationships of roads in road units and does not include information on the shape of the roads, first lane reference information that represents connection relationships of roads in lane units and includes information on the shape of the roads, and correspondence information that associates the road connection information and the first lane reference information; a route retrieval unit that retrieves a travel route of a vehicle using the road connection information; a lane reference information acquisition unit that acquires, from the road connection information and the correspondence information of the travel route, the first lane reference information of lanes required in order to perform guidance on the travel route; and a guidance information creation unit that, using the first lane reference information of the travel route, creates guidance information for guiding the vehicle.
