Abstract:
A vehicle travel assistance method adapted to be performed by a processor (180), said vehicle travel assistance method comprising: acquiring, from a device (120) having map information stored therein, information about static travel path boundaries, which are the boundaries between a travel path of a host vehicle and the surroundings; acquiring, from a sensor (140) for detecting the environment surrounding the host vehicle, dynamic travel path boundary information, which is information about boundaries different from the static travel path boundaries; generating a static travel route as a travel path along which the host vehicle can travel, on the basis of the information about the static travel path boundaries; generating a dynamic travel route as a travel path that is shorter than the static travel route and that matches the surrounding environment, on the basis of the static travel route and the dynamic travel path boundary information; and causing the host vehicle to travel along a target travel route that includes the static travel route and the dynamic travel route.
