Abstract:
Provided is a technique capable of forcibly restricting traveling when a driver does not perform a determined action for the orientation of the face or the line of sight, and removing the traveling restrictions when the driver performs the determined action. A traveling assistance device (10) is provided with: a control unit (20) for controlling a brake control device (30) mounted on a vehicle (100); and an orientation detection unit (40) for detecting the orientation of the face or the orientation of the line of sight of a driver. The control unit (20) controls the brake control device (30) to be in a traveling restricting state when the orientation of the face or the orientation of the line of sight detected by the orientation detection unit (40) does not coincide with a set direction within a set period of time after a predetermined start condition is met, and controls the brake control device (30) to be in a released state when the orientation of the face or the orientation of the line of sight detected by the orientation detection unit (40) coincides with the set direction within the set period of time after the start condition is met.
