Abstract:
The present invention comprises: a first turbocharger (30) and a second turbocharger (40) that turbocharge the intake of air into an engine (1), and each include a turbine (32, 42) driven by exhaust gas discharged from the engine (1), and a variable nozzle mechanism (35, 45) using openness to adjust the flow speed of the exhaust gas that flows into the turbine (32, 42); and a control device (200) that switches between a single turbocharging mode in which air that has been turbocharged by the first turbocharger (30) is supplied, and a twin turbocharging mode in which air that has been turbocharged by the first turbocharger (30) and the second turbocharger (40) is supplied. When switched to the twin turbocharging mode, the control device (200) calculates, from condition quantities of an intake path and an exhaust path, a target openness of the variable nozzle mechanisms (35, 45) that is necessary in order for the first turbocharger (30) and the second turbocharger (40) to obtain a target turbocharging pressure, and if the calculated target openness is outside of a controllable range, switches to the single turbocharging mode.
