Abstract:
This α+β type titanium alloy ingot for hot working has a chemical composition containing, in terms of mass%, 2.5-8.0% Al, 0.5-3.0% Fe, and O in an amount satisfying 0.02% ≤ [O] ≤ ([Al] - [Fe] - 0.5 × [Mo] - 0.5 × [Nb] + 1.0)/100 (wherein [X] is the content of an element X when using mass% as a unit), with the remainder being Ti and impurities. The ratio L/S of the peripheral length L (mm) of a transverse cross section, which is a cross section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, to the surface area S (mm2) of the transverse cross section is 0.010 or greater. In a portion at 20-80% of the entire longitudinal length from one end surface toward the other end surface among the two end surfaces in the longitudinal direction of the α+β type titanium alloy ingot, the average crystal particle diameter D of the cast structure at a position of 10 mm from the surface towards the longitudinal center axis of the α+β type titanium alloy ingot satisfies D ≤ 10 mm and D ≤ L/100. The thickness of the α+β type titanium alloy ingot is 80 mm or greater.
