Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing an ultraviolet sterilizer such that damage to an ultraviolet transparent plate made of quartz glass or other such material can be detected at higher accuracy with minimal attenuation of ultraviolet rays by the ultraviolet transparent plate. This ultraviolet sterilizer comprises: an ultraviolet lamp; a housing which surrounds the ultraviolet lamp; an ultraviolet transparent portion which is disposed in a lower opening of the housing and includes an ultraviolet transparent plate and a holding means for the ultraviolet transparent plate; and an air flow detection means. The holding means of the ultraviolet transparent portion has a sealing means which, together with the outer periphery of the ultraviolet transparent plate, forms a sealed space that communicates with the air flow detection means at one end, and the air flow detection means comprises a flowmeter and an air pressure adjustment means for adjusting pressure inside the sealed space. The flow of air inside the sealed space that occurs when damage to the ultraviolet transparent plate causes the sealed state of the sealed space to be released is detected with the flowmeter.
