Disclosed in the present invention is an underground cable laying apparatus, which comprises a support, a conveying detection mechanism, a segmenting mechanism and a tensioning mechanism; a box body is mounted on one side of the support and a conveying frame is mounted on the other side of the support; the conveying detection mechanism is mounted on the conveying frame and is used for detection and guidance during cable laying and conveying; and the segmenting mechanism is mounted on the support and is used for a cable separation operation when laying multi-segment cables. During use of the present invention, cables to be laid are placed on the conveying frame and outputted by means of rollers and a cable reel. A displacement sensor mounted in a U-shaped plate can detect cables being conveyed and transmit displacement data to a display screen by means of a DSP controller for display, so that an operator can observe in real time the length of the cables conveyed when cables are laid.
