An update program for causing a computer to execute a process in which: when a communication connection, which uses a first public key certificate and which is secure for a server, has been started, a request to issue a second public key certificate is made to the server and the second public key certificate is then received; and when the first public key certificate has expired, a connection confirmation using the second public key certificate is performed.
