Abstract:
A variable displacement pump comprising: a cylinder block having a plurality of cylinder bores arranged in the circumferential direction of a rotating shaft, the cylinder block rotating with the rotating shaft; pistons respectively provided within the plurality of cylinder bores in a slidable manner; and a swash plate with which the front ends of the pistons can be in sliding contact and which is supported so as to be tiltable relative to the rotating shaft, the pistons reciprocating in strokes corresponding to the tilt angle of the swash plate to suck in and discharge operating fluid. The variable displacement pump further comprises: a control piston having a piston section which presses the swash plate and controlling the tilt angle of the swash plate; a piston containing section formed in a housing and containing the piston section; and a hollow cylindrical guide section disposed between the piston containing section and the piston section and having an inner peripheral surface for supporting the piston section in a slidable manner, the housing being formed from a material having higher fatigue strength than the guide section, the guide section being formed from a material having higher hardness than the housing.
