Abstract:
A variable displacement type oil pump is provided with: a coiled spring (33) for pressing a cam ring (15) in the direction in which the amount of a change in the volume (amount of eccentricity) of a plurality of pump chambers (24) increases; a first control oil chamber (31) for applying supplied discharge pressure to a first pressure receiving surface (15e) to rock the cam ring (15) in the direction in which the amount of eccentricity decreases; and a second control oil chamber (32) for applying supplied discharge pressure to a second pressure receiving surface (15f) to rock the cam ring (15) in the direction in which the amount of eccentricity increases. The area of the second pressure receiving surface is set to be greater than that of the first pressure receiving surface to set a second vector B2 to be greater than a first vector B1. As a result, even if air bubbles are generated in the pump chambers, the behavior of the cam ring is prevented from becoming unstable, thereby stabilizing the control of the high-pressure characteristics of the pump.
