Abstract:
A variable geometry turbocharger according to one embodiment comprises: a rotary shaft; a turbine wheel provided to one end side of the rotary shaft; a compressor wheel provided to the other end side of the rotary shaft; a bearing housing for accommodating a bearing part that rotatably supports the rotary shaft; a variable nozzle mechanism for controlling the flow rate of exhaust gas flowing into the turbine wheel, the variable nozzle mechanism having a nozzle plate and a nozzle mount which define an exhaust gas flow path through which the exhaust gas is introduced into the turbine wheel, a nozzle vane disposed in the exhaust gas flow path so as to be capable of rotating about a support shaft, and a drive part which rotates the nozzle vane and is disposed in an internal space defined between the bearing housing and the nozzle mount; and a cooling gas passage which extracts compressed gas compressed by the compressor wheel and introduces the gas to the internal space.
