A vehicle assembly production line (1) and a vehicle assembly method. The vehicle (2) comprises an electric chassis (22) and a vehicle body (21) to be assembled, the vehicle body (21) being connected to the electric chassis (22). The vehicle assembly production line (1) comprises: an automated guided vehicle (AGV) (11), which is used for transporting the electric chassis (22) to a marrying station (101); and a vehicle body placement device (12), which is used for placing the vehicle body (21) on the electric chassis (22) so as to connect the vehicle body (21) and the electric chassis (22) on the marrying station (101). The AGV (11) is further used for sequentially transporting the connected vehicle body (21) and the electric chassis (22) to multiple assembly stations (102), so as to complete the assembly of the vehicle (2) at the multiple assembly stations (102). The vehicle assembly production line (1) further comprises an off-line device (13), which is used for separating the assembled vehicle (2) from the AGV (11) at an off-line station (103), such that the assembled vehicle (2) comes off the production line. The vehicle assembly production line (1) and the vehicle assembly method can significantly improve the efficiency of vehicle assembly.
