Abstract:
[Problem] To improve the traveling performance for a vehicle equipped with an assembled battery. [Solution] A battery system includes a motor as a driving source for running a vehicle, a high-capacity assembled battery and a high-output assembled battery which can supply electric power for the motor, and a controller which controls charging and discharging for the high-capacity assembled battery and the high-output assembled battery. The high-capacity assembled battery has a relatively larger energy capacity than the high-output assembled battery. The high-output assembled battery can perform charging and discharging with a relatively larger current than the high-capacity assembled battery. The controller continuously discharges the high-capacity assembled battery. The controller controls charging and discharging for the high-output assembled battery in such a way that the SOC of the high-output assembled battery conforms to a prescribed value while continuously discharging the high-capacity assembled battery. While not continuously discharging the high-capacity assembled battery, the controller continuously discharges the high-output assembled battery in such a way that the SOC of the high-output assembled battery decreases lower than a prescribed value.
