Abstract:
A vehicle bumper reinforcement provided with backward inclining sections at the end sections, wherein collision loads are suitably received by the backward inclining sections even during small-overlap offset collisions. An outer side plate (22) is substantially parallel to the vehicle width direction due to fan-shaped widened sections (20) being provided to the backward inclining sections (12) and the outer side plate (22) being bent and deformed in a manner so as to separate from an inner side plate (24). Collision loads are therefore suitably received even during small-overlap offset collisions. Thus, an impact absorption performance is suitably obtained due to compression and deformation of the vehicle bumper reinforcement (10) itself. Furthermore, collision loads received by the fan-shaped widened sections (20) are transmitted from the vehicle bumper reinforcement (10) to crash boxes (16), and an impact absorption performance is therefore suitably obtained as a result of the crash boxes (16) being suitably compressed and deformed in the axial direction.
