Abstract:
A vehicle control device includes a motor for driving wheels, an inverter for driving the motor, and boost converter for supplying DC power voltage to the inverter. The vehicle control device further includes a control unit for switching between a square wave control and non-square wave control for the inverter. The control unit has, an emergency switching condition, as one of the judgment references, for switching control from the square wave control to an excessive modulation control according to the current flowing from the inverter to the motor. When an emergency switching condition is satisfied during the square wave control execution (YES in step S5), the control unit instructs the boost converter to lower the target output voltage (S7). It is preferable that the control unit judge that the emergency switching condition is satisfied when the q-axis current supplied from the inverter to the motor exceeds a predetermined threshold value.
