Abstract:
Provided is a vehicle control device which makes it possible to carry out rapid deceleration and steering depending on the behavior of nearby vehicles, thereby reducing anxiety felt by a driver. The present invention is a vehicle control device (100) for controlling vehicle travel, characterized by comprising: a nearby vehicle detection unit (10b) that detects nearby vehicles (3) traveling near an ego-vehicle (1); a route information acquisition unit (26) that acquires, from nearby vehicles detected by the nearby vehicle detection unit, travel route information pertaining to a subsequent travel route; a speed distribution setting unit (10d) that sets a speed limit distribution (40), which defines the upper-limit values of relative speeds permitted in the vicinity of the nearby vehicles detected by the nearby vehicle detection unit; and a control unit (10e) that controls the speed and/or steering of the ego-vehicle so as to satisfy the speed limit distribution set by the speed distribution setting unit. The vehicle control device (100) is further characterized in that the speed distribution setting unit sets the speed limit distribution according to the travel route information acquired by the route information acquisition unit.
