Abstract:
This vehicle control system comprises: a recognition unit that recognizes peripheral vehicles travelling in the periphery of the present vehicle; an automated driving control unit that executes a plurality of automated driving modes wherein speed control and/or steering control of the present vehicle are/is performed automatically, the degree of periphery surveillance obligation on the present vehicle, which is imposed on the driver of the present vehicle, being different among said plurality of automated driving modes; and a management unit that manages the periphery surveillance obligation of the present vehicle, the management unit lessening the periphery surveillance obligation of the present vehicle when the automated driving control unit is executing platooning wherein the present vehicle travels by following, among the peripheral vehicles recognized by the recognition unit, a preceding vehicle that is traveling in front of the present vehicle.
