VEHICLE WHEEL WITH AN EMERGENCY RUNNING SUPPORT BODY
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO1999019158
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The invention relates to a vehicle wheel with an emergency running support body for a pneumatic tire mounted on a wheel rim. Said tire essentially comprises a running strip, two sidewalls, a carcass, reinforcing elements, and two tire beads provided with bead cores. According to the invention, the emergency running support body (2) is configured as a shell-shaped ring body (3) inside the pneumatic tire. The ring body has an emergency running surface which supports the tire when damaged and supports itself with both axially outward facing wall areas (6, 7) thereof by means of ring-shaped supporting elements on the wheel rim. At least three parts consist of shell-shaped ring bodies (3) and two ring-shaped supporting elements, whereby at least one of the parts, said parts constructing the emergency running support body (2), is constructed as a separate component which is first complementary to the emergency running support body when the tire is being mounted on the rim.
