The present invention relates to a ventilation device and a method for controlling same. A ventilation device according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a housing having an air discharge channel, through which air discharged from indoors to outdoors flows, and an air supply channel through which air drawn in from outdoors to indoors flows; a heat exchanger for exchanging heat between the air discharged from indoors to outdoors and the air drawn in from outdoors to indoors; a humidifying unit disposed on an outlet of the air supply channel and supplying moisture to the air drawn in from outdoors to indoors; a communication unit communicating with an outdoor unit and/or an indoor unit; and a control unit, wherein the control unit can determine the amount of moisture supplied by the humidifying unit on the basis of data received via the communication unit, and control the operation of the humidifying unit in accordance with the determined amount of moisture. Various other embodiments are possible.
