Abstract:

A label sheet assembly is provided with bar code (62) thereon defining the layout of the labels (28) on the backing sheet (26). A label dispenser (20) advances the label sheets (26) and deflects them over a peeling bar (70) in one direction to partially separate the labels (28) from the backing sheet (26). The advancing action is determined by the bar code (62) information. The label sheets (28) are then deflected in the opposite direction and routed to the output of the dispenser (20). The labels (28) are partially dispensed, substantially vertically from the dispenser (20), and sensors (222, 224) sense when all of the labels (28) have been removed.
