Title:
THE VERTICAL, CYLINDRICAL WIND TURBINE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2002/042639
Kind Code:
A2
Abstract:
The vertical, cylindrical wind turbine comprises two major units: the electricity - generating unit; the wind-reception unit which is the basis of this invention. This invention consists of a system that allows to receive winds from all directions and redirect them to the bottom of the wind reception unit to be received by the electricity - generating unit an with system can be build a very big size of unit to get more energy.

Description:
Description of the invention The components of the invention: Figer-1-a conical, cylindrical smooth body having its bigger base upwards and the smaller one downwards.

Figer-2-a number of flat barriers having one of their sides facing the same conical cylindrical body where as the other side is vertical or parallel with regards to the axis of the conical body.

Figer-3-a cylindrical barrier helping the retained wind to be directed towards the bottom of the cylindrical body, The invention will be fixed according to figure (4). The electricity-generating unit is fixed at the bottom of the wind-reception unit at the same axis fig (5).

When the wind blows from any direction, it hits the conical cylindrical body and the barriers and it flows along the symmetry of the conical cylindrical body it reaches the blades of the propeller, which is connected to the generator, and as it turns the generator will do so.

The previous situation: This system depends on a horizontaly fixed electricity-generating unit on a vertical body comprising a propeller with a certain number of blades whose axis is connected, on one side, to a generator and a steering bar on the same axis but on the other Side of the generator which is designed to redirect the whole unit to the direction fi-om which the wind comes. Supposing that the propeller rotates and thus changes the course of the wind so the first thing to be affected by this Chang is the steering bar which is responsible of operating the whole generating unit enabling the propeller to face the wind. The defect of this system is that it exposes the generated electricity to decrease as soon as the direction of the wind changes until the propeller takes a stable position facing the wind and then it continues to increase again.
