Abstract:
Provided is a vertical-resonator-type light-emitting element that has high luminous efficiency. The invention is characterized in having: a substrate; a first multilayer film reflection mirror formed on the substrate; a semiconductor structure layer that includes a first semiconductor layer of a first electrically conductive type formed on the first multilayer film reflection mirror, a light-emitting layer formed on the first semiconductor layer, and a second semiconductor layer of a second electrically conductive type opposite to the first electrically conductive type and formed on the light-emitting layer; an electrode layer that is formed on the top surface of the semiconductor structure layer, and that is in electrical contact with the second semiconductor layer of the semiconductor structure layer in one region of the top surface; and a second multilayer film reflection mirror that is formed to cover the one region on the electrode layer, and constitutes a resonator with the first multilayer film reflection mirror, the semiconductor structure layer having one recess structure that includes one or more recesses that penetrate the light-emitting layer from the top surface in a region surrounding the one region.
