Abstract:
In order to establish, with minimal load, cooperation between an external device 30, a video display device 10 and a remote control terminal 20, and to achieve cooperative action between these devices that affords a high level of operability to the user, this video display device 10, which can connect between an external device 30 and a remote control terminal 20 that remotely operates the external device 30, is provided with: a connection detection unit 140 which detects when an external device 30 has been connected to the video display device 10; a cooperation establishment unit 120 which, when the connection detection unit 140 detects that an external device 30 has been connected, generates a start signal for causing the remote control terminal 22 to initiates application software that receives operation commands to the external device 30; and a communication interface 18 which transmits a start signal to the remote control terminal 20.
