Abstract:
In order to lift a region included in a real object from a background and automatically generate a shadow image that gives the illusion that the apparent height of said region relative to the background region appears to change over time, this video generation device has as inputs therefor: a dark region image including a dark region being a spatial region corresponding to a target and being darker than the background; and control information that specifies movement to be applied to the dark region. A video is obtained and output that includes a shadow region obtained by performing mask processing on a moving region obtained by applying movement to the dark region in accordance with the control information, said mask processing replacing pixels in a mask region at a spare position corresponding to the target with lighter pixels than the moving region. By superimposing an output video corresponding to this video on to a real object, an observer viewing the real object having the output video superimposed thereon has the illusion that the target region included in the real object corresponding to the target is lifted from the background region and the apparent height of the target region, relative to the background region, changes over time.
