Disclosed is a video source unit which can improve video light-use efficiency. The video source unit (4) is equipped with a video light source (5) and an optical sheet (10) stacked on the video light source. The optical sheet has a substrate layer (11) and an optical function layer (12) formed on the surface on the video light source side of the substrate layer, the optical function layer being equipped with light transmitting sections (13), which can transmit light, arranged in parallel along the sheet surface, and light absorption sections (14), which can absorb light, arranged in parallel in the gaps between the light transmitting sections. The video source unit is characterised by the surface of the light transmitting section on the video light source side having convex sections (17) shaped like a polyline or curved line so as to form convex surfaces facing the video light source side along the cross section of the light transmitting section in the sheet thickness direction.
