Abstract:
This virtual image display device 210 comprises: a display unit 12 that produces image display light L; and a projection optical system 214 that projects the image display light L toward a virtual image presentation board. The projection optical system 214 includes: a projection mirror 216 that projects the image display light toward the virtual image presentation board 22; and a transmissive optical element that is arranged such that the optical axis thereof obliquely intersects with an optical path of the projection optical system 214. The display unit 12 is arranged at a focal point within the meridional plane of a compositing optical system 220 constituted by the virtual image presentation board 22 and the projection optical system 214. The focal point within the meridional plane of the compositing optical system 220 is at a light focus position of a parallel light beam when the parallel light beam is caused to be incident from a user E toward the virtual image presentation board 22 along the meridional plane of the virtual image presentation board 22.
