Abstract:
[Problem] To detect a virus quickly and with a high degree of sensitivity. [Solution] A virus detection method for using a well array, in which a plurality of wells are formed such that adjacent wells are defined by lateral walls that rise on a substrate, to detect a virus in a test liquid on the basis of detected light emission from the wells, wherein the well array has a detection region where a well formation surface area, which is the substrate surface area of the region where the wells are formed, is at least 5 mm2, the overall well volume obtained by adding the volumes of the individual wells is at least 17 nL, the depth of the wells is 3.5-40 μm, the opening surface areas of the wells are 18-1,700 μm 2, the volumes of the wells are 74-6,000 fL, and the lateral wall thicknesses between adjacent wells are 0.5-15 μm, and the light emission from the wells is detected using a detection unit having an observation field of view fixed at a size including the detection region.
