Abstract:
Provided is a visual recognition area estimation device capable of precisely estimating an area visually recognized by a driver in real time. The visual recognition area estimation device calculates a visual recognition area visually recognized by the driver by a visual recognition area calculation section (11) on the basis of the driver's line of sight, and estimates a time-series visual recognition area that is an area visually recognized at present by the driver by a visual recognition spatiotemporal map generation section (14) on the basis of the history of plural visual recognition areas calculated over a predetermined period of time from past to present. By thus estimating the time-series visual recognition area including the past visual recognition areas, the area visually recognized at present by the driver can be precisely estimated. Further, the area is used as the reference without the driver's line of sight being associated with an obstacle, whereby the processing amount can be prevented from becoming extremely large and real-time estimation processing becomes possible.
