Provided are a wall panel support structure and a method for supporting the wall panel upright, with which the height of a guide rail that is adjusted with a height adjustment fitting does not vary even when a heavy wall panel is supported by the guide rail. The present invention comprises: a guide rail that supports a plurality of wall panels and arranges the plurality of wall panels along guide parts that engage with the bottom surface of each wall panel; an upright support fitting that supports the wall panels supported by the guide rail in a posture standing upright along a vertical surface; and a plurality of height adjustment fittings positioned between the floor surface and the guide rail, with which it is possible to adjust the height of the guide rail above the floor, the plurality of height adjustment fittings adjusting the height of the guide rail above the floor being embedded in a floor finish layer so that the guide rail is positioned along a horizontal surface. The height adjustment fittings are covered by the floor finishing layer, whereby the aesthetic feel of a room is not damaged, and movable parts that adjust the height are embedded in the floor finish layer and secured, whereby the guide rail does not move downward due to the weight of the wall panel even over a long period of time.
