Provided is a water absorbent particle having at least 10% of a permeation retention rate which is represented by the following formula (Permeation retention rate (%)=(Swollen gel liquid passing speed/Dry powder liquid passing speed)×100), using a dry powder liquid passing speed measured by a method including steps (A), (B) and (C) in this order and a swollen gel liquid passing speed measured by a method including steps (A), (B), (D), and (E) in this order.
