The present invention relates to a water-based polishing treating agent for synthetic leather used for a post process of synthetic leather. The said treating agent comprises the following components: water-based resin, water-based dispersant, defoamer, silica matting powder, water-based polish, wetting agent, Deqian thickener and water. The present invention also relates to a preparation method for the water-based polishing treating agent for the synthetic leather. The components of the water-based polishing treating agent of the present invention coordinate with one another and act together, and bring about advantages of unique hand feeling and non-cracking at a high temperature after treatment. Meanwhile, the prepared dilute solution for spraying is highly stable in storage and the pigment of the solution does not readily precipitate. Leather treated with the treating agent has natural luster, distinct color, good coloration and excellent overall effect. The water-based polishing treating agent for synthetic leather of the present invention is a new type of material for post-process and can be used in an existing production line of synthetic leather. The treating agent has a simple process that does not need to change production equipment and brings no more production cost.
