Abstract:

A water-soluble acrylic acid salt polymer which, when used in forming a poultice or cooling sheet, not only imparts moderate adhesiveness to the product but also has a high rate of reaction with a polyvalent metal to enable the period from raw-material kneading to curing to be shortened. With the polymer, a gelling base effective in heightening productivity can hence be provided. The water-soluble acrylic acid salt polymer is characterized in that when a gelling base prepared according to the following formulation is allowed to stand under the conditions of 25°C and a relative humidity of 60% and to gel, then the gel strength after 7.5-hour standing is 5,000-9,000 dyn/cm2 and the gel strength after 200-hour standing is 10,000-15,000 dyn/cm2. [Formulation] Glycerol, 4 parts by mass; propylene glycol, 4 parts by mass; the water-soluble acrylic acid salt polymer, 5 parts by mass; dried aluminum hydroxide gel having acid reactivity as determined with 0.1-N HCl of 180 seconds, 0.2 parts by mass; tartaric acid, 0.25 parts by mass; and distilled water, 86.55 parts by mass.
