Abstract:
Provided are a weather identification device (100) and weather identification method that make it possible to accurately identify weather even if an image to be used to identify the weather has a three-dimensional object imaged therein. This invention comprises: a real-edge-intensity calculation unit (121) for calculating a real edge intensity that is the edge intensity of an image area where a three-dimensional object has been detected; a three-dimensional-object-type identification unit (122) for identifying the type of the three-dimensional object from a feature value of the three-dimensional object; a type-edge-intensity acquisition unit (123) for using a type-edge-intensity table (124) in which edge intensities in good-visibility weather in which the visibility is good have been predetermined to acquire a type edge intensity corresponding to the type of the three-dimensional object identified by the three-dimensional-object-type identification unit (122) and the distance to the three-dimensional object; and a weather identification unit (130) for, if the difference between the real edge intensity calculated by the real-edge-intensity calculation unit (121) and the type edge intensity acquired by the type-edge-intensity acquisition unit (123) is greater than a predetermined threshold, identifying the weather in the range of the image as poor-visibility weather in which the visibility is poor and outputting the result of the identification.
