Provided are a wheel speed sensor and a wheel speed sensor manufacturing method with which the cost, time, and the like required for the manufacture of the wheel speed sensor can be reduced. A wheel speed sensor (1) is manufactured in such a manner that: a resin formed section (30) is formed by sealing a Hall IC (20) with a synthetic resin; electric wires (7a) are connected to the metallic terminals (22) of the Hall IC (20), the metallic terminals (22) being exposed from the resin formed section (30); and then an outer cover section (10) is formed by sealing the abovementioned elements with a synthetic resin. The resin formed section (30) and the outer cover section (10) are formed from the same synthetic resin. The metallic terminals (22) of the Hall IC (20) are bent to the flat surface side which is located on the reverse side of one flat surface on which a capacitor (23) is provided, and the metallic terminals (22) are embedded in the resin formed section (30). In the step of forming the resin formed section (30), a rib which comes into contact with the metallic terminals (22) of the Hall IC (20) is provided to a die, and the metallic terminals (22) are bent when receiving the Hall IC (20) into the die.
