Abstract:
In order to obtain the highest possible level of machining precision regardless of whether a machined taper shape is an upwardly-opening shape or a downwardly-opening shape, this wire electric discharge machining apparatus is provided with an NC control device. During machining of a taper, the NC control device, on the basis of a machining program, determines whether the type of machining is a type in which upper dies (10-1, 10-2) are positioned closer towards the machined article (4) side as compared with lower dies (11-1, 11-2) (first type), or whether the upper dies are positioned closer towards to the opposite side from the machined article, as compared with the lower dies (second type), and corrects the positional relationship of the upper dies and the lower dies, in accordance with the type of machining so determined.
