Abstract:
This wireless communication system (1) has a serving base station (10), a mobile station (20), and peripheral base stations (30, 40). The mobile station (20) communicates with the serving base station (10). The serving base station (10) has a transmission unit (12). The transmission unit (12) transmits to the mobile station (20) a signal indicating that communication cooperating with the peripheral base stations is to be performed. The mobile station (20) has a transmission unit (23). In response to the reception of the signal, the transmission unit (23) broadcasts a predetermined request signal to the peripheral base stations (30, 40). Each of the peripheral base stations (30, 40) that have received the predetermined request signal has a communication unit (33, 43). The communication units (33, 43) notify the serving base station (10) of information that is on the basis of the predetermined request signal and that is information selecting, among the peripheral base stations (30, 40), a peripheral base station (40) with which communication with the mobile station (20) is to be performed cooperating with the serving base station (10).
