Abstract:
A grinder is provided with: a motor (2); a tool mounting portion to and from which a tip tool can be attached and removed; a brake shaft (4) which rotates together with the tool mounting portion by means of a motive force of the motor (2); a brake sleeve (55) capable of transferring torque to or from the brake shaft (4) in a state in which relative rotation relative to the brake shaft (4) is allowed; a switch for the drive of the motor (2); a trigger (181); and a locking mechanism (6). The brake sleeve (55) rotates together with the brake shaft (4) under the action of the transfer of torque if the trigger (181) is moved from an OFF position to an ON position and rotation is allowed by the locking mechanism (6), whereas, if the trigger (181) is moved from the ON position to the OFF position and the locking mechanism (6) locks the brake sleeve (55) such that the same cannot rotate, the action of the transfer of torque causes a braking force to be applied to the brake shaft (4).
