A workpiece conveying device (10) that uses a plurality of workpiece supporting/moving devices (16) to support a workpiece (W) and to move the workpiece (W) between a plurality of work stations. The workpiece supporting/moving devices (16) are provided with a moving mechanism (24) that moves back and forth between an assembly station (AS) and a first welding station (WS) and with a raising/lowering mechanism (28) that is provided above the moving mechanism (24), that supports the workpiece (W) using an upper-end support part (26), and that can shift the upper-end support part (26) in approximately the vertical direction. The raising/lowering mechanism (28) has a telescope-type multi-step cylinder (36) wherein first, second, third, and fourth cylinders (40, 42, 44, 46) shift coaxially.
