Abstract:
A coloring or tinting composition containing as a substantive dye at least one hydroxyanthraquinone derivative of formula (I) is provided. Preferred hydroxyanthraquinone derivatives include 1,4-dihydroxy-6-chloro-7-(3'-methylphenoxy)-anthraquinone,1,4-dihydroxy-6-chloro-7-(2'-methyl-3'-hydroxyphenoxy)-anthraquinone, 1,4-dihydroxy-6-chloro-7-(4'-methylphenoxy)-anthraquinone, 1,4-dihydroxy-6-chloro-7-(3',5',-dimethoxyphenoxy)-anthraquinone,or 1,4-dihydroxy-6-chloro-7-(2'.3'-dimethoxyphenoxy)-antraquinone.
