Abstract:
The used oil is heated in a defouling and dechlorination reactor (30) at 400-700[deg]F and maintained at the same temperature for an average residence time of several minutes. The heated oil is then contacted with a non-oxidizing gas source (40) during the residence time. An independent claim is also included for the reduction of chlorine content in chlorinated oil.
