Abstract:
The invention relates to a universally applicable free-piston device with an electric linear drive (10, 40), comprising at least one piston receiving element (12) with at least one piston device (18) which is arranged in the piston receiving element (12) such that it can be displaced in a linear manner. The piston device (18) comprises a rotor device (46), and a stator device (48) is arranged on the piston receiving element (12). The at least one piston device (18) is driven by the action of a medium which expands in an expansion chamber (36, 38). According to the invention, the piston stroke can be variably adjusted by the linear drive (10, 40) in such a manner that the slack points of the displacement of the piston device (18) can be defined.
