Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently produce a low oxygen high grade Ti-Al based alloy from a low grade titanium containing oxygen at a high concentration in a high yield.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a method for producing a Ti-Al based alloy Z comprising: a first step where the alloy material W of a Ti-Al based alloy made of a titanium material and an aluminum material and containing oxygen by 0.1 mass% or higher in total and Al by 40 mass% or higher is added with the flux α of CaO-CaFobtained by blending calcium oxide with calcium fluoride by 35 to 95 mass% so as to be 3 to 20 mass% to the Ti-Al based alloy, and the same is dissolved by a dissolution method using a water-cooled copper container 1 in an atmosphere of 1.33 Pa or higher and is retained to refine a primary ingot X; a second step where the primary ingot X is continuously drawn out to the lower part while being dissolved by a dissolution method using a bottomless water-cooled copper mold 2 in an atmosphere of 1.33 Pa or higher, to obtain a secondary ingot X; and a third step where the surface-stuck flux layer β of the secondary ingot Y is mechanically removed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
