Abstract:
To provide, generally, a catheter with a configuration allowing rapid exchange which reduces a profile of the catheter riding on a guidewire and minimizes guidewire resistance.SOLUTION: A body of a catheter includes a distal portion 105 and a proximal portion 110. The distal portion defines a guidewire lumen 126 and includes a guidewire exit port 130 being open in a proximal direction and leading to the guidewire lumen. A proximal section of the guidewire lumen is straight. According to some embodiment, the distal portion has a cross-section larger than a cross-section of the proximal portion.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5A
