Abstract:
To provide a new astragal shape capable of providing improved polishing efficiency in a rotary atherectomy treatment.SOLUTION: An abrasive element 200 can open the stenosis lesion to the diameter substantially larger than the maximum diameter of the abrasive element. In some embodiments, the abrasive element can open the stenosis lesion to the diameter substantially larger than the maximum diameter of a sheath through which the abrasive element is carried. In some embodiments, the abrasive element is configured so that it can expand while rotating at high speed. In some embodiments, the abrasive element has a local mass center positioned at diagonally opposite end. Therefore, the abrasive element disclosed herein has an improved polishing range, reduces the treatment time and can prevent the restenosis.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1A
