Abstract:
To provide an apparatus for coating carrier particles with guest particles.SOLUTION: The apparatus is provided that comprises: a cylindrical processing tube 2 rotatable around its axis and having a solid wall defining a chamber 3 for receiving a particle; and a hollow shaft 4 extending within the chamber at least partly along an axis of the cylindrical processing tube, the hollow shaft 4 defining a gas flow path connected to a gas flow inlet 5. The hollow shaft comprises one or more axially-extending or a one or more axially-extending row of apertures 9. The apparatus is used in a process for coating a carrier particle with a guest particle, the process comprising: adding a particle to the chamber defined by the cylindrical processing tube; rotating the cylindrical processing tube around its axis; and flowing a gas from the gas flow inlet into the chamber through one or more axially extending slots, or a row or rows of apertures axially extending in one or more axis directions along the gas flow path in the hollow shaft.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
