Abstract:
To provide a multiple direction drive device which enables a spherical body supporting an operated body to freely rotate in multiple directions by a simple structure without causing limitations on a movable range by influence of wiring connected to a motor, and to provide a robot joint mechanism and a multiple direction drive method.SOLUTION: A multiple direction drive device has: a first drive motor 1 which is supported by a holding part S and drives a roll axis R; a second drive motor 2 which is supported by the holding part S and drives a pitch axis P; a rotary member 3 which rotates around the roll axis R in conjunction with rotation of the first drive motor 1; a spherical body 4 which is rotatably supported by the rotation member 3 and rotates around the pitch axis P different from a drive shaft 2A of the second drive motor 2; a power transmission mechanism 5 which rotationally slides the spherical body 4 relative to the rotation member 3 between the second drive motor 2 and the spherical body 4; and control means 6 which controls a drive shaft 1A of the first drive motor 1 and the second drive motor 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
