Abstract:
To provide: a squarylium-based compound which has an absorption maximum with a maximum absorption wavelength of 500-640 nm and can sufficiently enhance color reproducibility of a display; and a coloring composition, a display filter and a display that contain the same.SOLUTION: A squarylium-based compound with a chemical structure represented by formula (1) has a transmittance of 80% or more at wavelengths of 380-450 nm, and has an absorption maximum with a maximum absorption wavelength of 500-640 nm and a half-width of 35 nm or less. Also provided are a coloring composition, a display filter and a display that contain the same.
