Abstract:
To provide a manufacturing method of an aqueous polymer capable of forming a coated film excellent in frost damage resistance.SOLUTION: There is provided a manufacturing method of an aqueous polymer having percentage of a constitutional unit derived from a styrenic monomer of 50 to 90 mass% and glass transition temperature of 0 to 50°C by emulsion polymerizing a monomer component containing a styrenic monomer by using a following organic oxidant and a following organic reductant, including a polymerization process A for supplying the organic reductant during supply of the monomer component so that a supply ratio Xa of the organic oxidant defined by the following formula (1) under a temperature condition of 70 to 100°C becomes 0.9 or more and emulsion polymerizing the monomer component. Organic oxidant: water solubility is 14 g/100 g or more at room temperature and 10 hr half-life temperature of 110°C or higher. Organic reductant: water solubility is 14 g/100 g or more.
